First of all, I must apologize that I lost touch over the last two months. Things were quite busy in my personal life. I actually just started a new job! I am now the Special Events Manager for the American Red Cross of Utah. It is quite fun so far and I am absolutely loving it. I will definitely stay around the arts and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company in a volunteer role, but this new change is going to be great! Now, onto a few photos I took several weeks ago. These were some senior portraits for Andrew who will be graduated high school this year. Congratulations Andrew! We first did the usual senior portraits for a nice headshot to put in with his announcements. But then we also had some fun with my husband's motorcycle and giving him a "bad boy" image to play around with. Quite handsome!

We welcomed a new member to the family on Wednesday, July 14th, my little nephew Remington McLachlan. Of course I had to take advantage of the newborn stage and get some cute little photos of him. It turned into a three to four hour shoot though because we scheduled it around his "well-established" sleep schedule so that he would be nice and asleep during the photo-shoot. However, he had different plans for us. He decided to stay awake almost the entire time. The few shots I have of him asleep were limited to about five or six at a time. But I must say we ended up with several ADORABLE shots! A little while ago during a full moon, a friend and I decided to try a little experiment. Neither one of us had tried photographing the moon before so we thought we would have a little fun. So Lenni Stratton, of Lenni Stratton Photography, and I went up to Traverse Ridge up above South Mountain in Draper, Utah. We had some fun shooting the moon as well as playing with some experimental shots of the city.
We are very happy to have both made it out alive because we were not the only ones up there in the mountains. The entire time we heard howling from coyotes nearby and other sounds coming from the trees in the clearing where we parked. Neither one of us was smart enough to tell our husbands exactly where we were going for in case we were eaten up there! We will know better next time! Enjoy the photos from my little experiment. I think I have mentioned this before but I seriously do not take enough advantage of where I work! I work around an incredible group of beautiful dancers and I have very few dance photos in my portfolio. You would think that I would take more advantage of my environment but I get so swept up in the marketing and publicity I am doing for the company that I rarely bring my camera.
Well this year I finally remembered to bring my camera with me to the 2010 Utah Arts Festival and get some shots of the incredible dancers from Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company. It was a sad farewell performance to four of our dancers who are moving on to pursue new developments in their lives. I wish them all the best! I am happy I was able to get photos of Lehua, T.J., Andrea, and Prentice before they left! I had the opportunity to volunteer my photography for the Family Counseling Center of Utah for their annual Casino Night Fundraiser. They did a wonderful job putting on this fabulous event which included dinner, a silent auction, a Poker tournament, and several other gaming tables from Black Jack to Craps. Here are just a few shots from the evening which benefited the mission of the Family Counseling Center.
When planning a wedding you spend hours upon hours obsessing about the little details, planning out the centerpieces, making decorations, searching for the perfect accessories, and ordering the beautiful flowers. The day of the wedding these are the things that everyone else gets to enjoy but the bride and groom are usually so busy greeting everyone that they rarely have a chance to step back and admire the fine work they have done over the months of planning. This is why I think it is essential to get the shots of the details at the wedding. Just those little things that you can look back at and feel satisfaction at the glorious work you put into that wedding day. Here are some of the detail shots I took from the latest wedding of Aaron and Tonee. Getting to practice with maternity shoots isn't always easy considering that you actually need to find someone that is pregnant in the first place and willing to let you play around. You also need to schedule it for the perfect time when there is enough belly to shoot. I was lucky because I had my sister Angel who is due July 26th with my little nephew, Remington. These photos were a lot of fun because it just gave us a chance to play around with several things I have seen in maternity photos and not have any worries on time constraints (I think the photoshoot ended up going for three hours!). And since I was her sister than she felt totally comfortable around me to expose her belly and humor me when I wanted to attempt a shot that I wasn't sure of how to get set up. In the end I am thrilled with the shots I got and even better, so was she! Enjoy! I just loved these little fish shoes! They remind me of "Finding Nemo."
Here are some more photos from the Mower wedding on May 20th. The happy couple had an enormous amount of support from their friends and family. I wanted to share a few of those photos! Mother and Daughter
I am thrilled that Tonee and Aaron allowed me to be part of their special day on May 20, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah. The reception was beautiful with their lime, orange and pink color scheme which brought the spirit of summer to life! And you may notice that I just couldn't help but take tons of photos of all the adorable kids. I wish you both all the best and thank you again for letting me be a part of your wedding day! |

Here is a closer look at my adventures in photography as I go off on my next shoot or I experiment with new techniques I am learning. I hope you can learn from some of the things I am doing and perhaps you can share some opinions and insight on my photographic work. Categories
